Curracloe Rowing Club joined forces with Wicklow Rowing Club last weekend for a two day High Performance Camp, bringing rowers from both clubs together for a full program of training. The idea was simple: put athletes from two strong clubs in the same boats and on the same schedule, and see what everyone can learn from each other.
Sessions ran across both days, mixing on water work with gym based conditioning. Rowers from Curracloe and Wicklow trained side by side, swapping tips on technique and picking up pointers from coaches on both sides. The pace was higher than a normal club session, and that was the point, camps like this exist to push people past their usual limits.
The camp wasn't all hard training. Evenings gave both clubs a chance to relax together, share food, and get to know each other off the water. Those conversations matter as much as the training pieces. Rowing clubs up and down the coast rely on exactly this kind of connection, and a weekend like this builds friendships that last well beyond the camp itself.
Curracloe Rowing Club wants to thank Wicklow Rowing Club for a brilliant two days and for opening their program up to our athletes. Everyone who took part came away with new skills and new friends, and there's real appetite to run something like this again. Keep an eye on our Instagram for photos and video from the camp.
